Atlanta 2010 Jazz Festival

If you’ve had a horn section playing in your head recently, we here at MDT wouldn’t be at all surprised. It happens to us too in the weeks leading up to the annual Atlanta Jazz Festival!

Now in its 33rd year, the Atlanta Jazz Festival, held over Memorial Day weekend, is the country’s largest free jazz fest, and it’s held every year right in our own collective backyard – Piedmont Park.

You heard us right, Threaders … Jazz Fest is FREE! The park will be swaying to the smooth sounds of jazz beginning at 2 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday, and it won’t stop until after dark.

In addition to an impressive lineup of musicians, this year’s Jazz Fest also features the Bud Light Beer Garden, Publix KidZone with lots of games and activities and the American Family Insurance Family Lounge. There will also be food and merch vendors to quell that shopping bug or sweet tooth.

The Atlanta Jazz Festival is a Green Jazz Community, so be sure to bring a six pack of cans or plastic bottles to receive a vintage Atlanta Jazz Fest poster, as well as discover your carbon footprint and get some eco-friendly beauty tips.

As if all this isn’t enough, Jazz Fest also is sponsoring a late night jam session Saturday evening at the Loew’s Hotel for only $20 per person (tickets available through Ticket Alternative) and a gospel jazz brunch at Park Tavern Sunday at 10 a.m.

Grab a blanket and some friends and enjoy the music this weekend at the Atlanta Jazz Festival.
