They may not have a man size pair of blue suede shoes, but The Pelvis Brestlies sure know their Elvis! This all-female Elvis tribute band, masterminded by Shawn Williams of 99X, is lighting a fire with Atlanta fans. The seven-piece band has only been together for a month, but recently had its first performance and appearance at The Inman Park Festival and The 5 Spot. Plus, its Facebook fan page has already attracted hundreds of diehard fans.
Williams says the girls are having a lot of fun paying homage to The King. “We all have such unique personalities,” she says. “When we come together there’s just this vibrant energy.” Williams, who has worked in radio for six years, is a passionate music lover, and she was lucky enough to find equally dedicated music fans in the rest of the Pelvis Brestlies crew.
Talk about girl happy, these ladies play everything from traditional instruments like drums, keys, guitar and bass, to lesser heard ones like the washboard and the ukelele. They even make their own instruments out of household items like pill bottles and flasks.
